GP Led Minor Skin Surgery in Dorset

Suntara Limited

GP Led Minor Skin Surgery in Dorset.

A significant shift in the NHS funding of minor skin surgery in recent years has resulted in many procedures now being defined as ‘cosmetic’ and are no longer available on the NHS. Sadly therefore, patients seeking these procedures, now have to do so privately.

Skin tags – Moles – Cysts – Warts – Fatty lumps - Ingrowing toenails

Suntara is operated by Dr Stephen Scott MB ChB FRCGP DTM&H DipMedEd, an experienced GP and retired senior partner at the Prince of Wales Surgery in Poundbury, Dorset. http://www.princeofwalessurgery.co.uk/

A committed advocate of the NHS and caring deeply about providing an alternative and affordable private service for minor skin surgery, Stephen established Dorset based Suntara in 2019.

His primary objective to offer patients the provision of a local GP led service for the removal of skin blemishes they find undesirable, at a reasonable price in a professional, friendly and sensitive healthcare setting.

Procedures offered include the removal of skin tags, scalp and skin (sebaceous) cysts, pigmented moles, seborrhoeic warts, cherry or blood spot and ingrowing toenails.

Dr Scott has been a GP for over 30 years and has been performing minor surgery as a specialist interest all that time. He provides this service not only to his patients in Prince of Wales Surgery, Dorchester, but is also contracted by the Local CCG to provide an intermediary skin surgery service to patients in West Dorset since 2000.  He works closely with the local Dermatologists and attends their multidisciplinary meetings.

What’s in a Name?

Suntara (or sundara सुंदर) means “lovely or beautiful” in Nepali.

Dr Scott and his wife Kathy (also a GP) lived with their 3 children in Nepal between 1997 and 2000.  Steve worked in the A&E department of a remote government hospital and Kathy with patients suffering from Leprosy. This time has naturally had a lasting impact on the whole family and the realisation that the value of a person is deep within them not their outward appearance nor in their circumstances.

Suntara will raise funds to support the charity that they worked for, INF. https://www.inf.org.uk/

What people say...
I was very pleased with both the treatment and the end result. Thank you so much for your kind and caring approach. I wouldn't hesitate in recommending Suntara for any minor skin surgery.
